Dear Lady

September 27, 2018

Dear Lady,

I dance in my car too. I turn on music and I sing loudly. I watch for the traffic coming from the other way though. And when I see that someone might see me, I stop, I get very still and serious. Then, as soon as they pass and are a safe distance away, I dance and sing again. My 15 year old son sees me do this every morning and he thinks its hilarious.

But you...

You were in front of my kid's school in the middle of lots of traffic coming both ways. I met you on that road and I saw you, I saw you clearly. You had one hand raised in the air and you were singing your heart out. And I knew immediately that you weren't just singing, you were praising God. And you weren't ashamed or embarrassed to be in that traffic. Nothing stopped you. And every morning since then, when I pass that spot, I think about you and how brave you were.

And as I looked at you that morning, in the middle of praising.... with your face tilted up but eyes still on the road, I knew that you were truly free and in the middle of something that could not be stopped because of other people and their possible judgments on you. You were freely praising, in front of anyone and everyone that might see you. When I saw you I smiled and said "YES! That is how it is done!". Even though I am almost always too scared to do the same.

And today, I just want to say thank you to whoever you are, because on that day I needed to see you. You had no idea, I am sure, that your faith was reaching someone's heart just by doing what you probably always do. That inside your car, all alone, you were a actually speaking to someone else.  And thats the thing, you never know... you just decide to be brave.

My daughter asked me last night... "Mama, do you think that if I see someone doing something bad, I should tell them not to?". And I thought of you, praising in the car lady, and I replied "sometimes, sweet girl, all you have to do is show them what is good and brave about you when you might not even know they are watching".

Love,

Andrea
